Street Ninjas

The Street Ninja Karate program includes advanced techniques in Taekwondo, one-step sparring, internationally recognized forms, practical self-defense, and competitive point sparring. Beyond the physicality that any sport may provide, it is important to develop the mind that controls the body. Every class includes an opportunity to challenge students in their thinking by discussing the Tenants of Taekwondo: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Indomitable Spirit, and Self-Control.

Features of the Program

Conditioning

At the beginning of every class students will perform: warm-up drills, calisthenic strength training, and dynamic and static stretching. These are very important habits that will prepare and protect the body during peak performance.

Taekwondo

The Street Ninja Karate program is rooted in Taekwondo, a modern Korean martial art. Its translation means, "the way of the fist and foot". Students in this program receive color belts and memorize forms or poomsae which are internationally recognized by the World Taekwondo Federation.

Self-Defense

One of the most practical reasons to learn any martial art is to be able to defend yourself and to protect your friends and family. We teach students how to perform effective self-defense maneuvers in a safe and responsible way. Students won't just learn how to perform them, but also how to avoid having to perform them.

"The stronger we are the gentler we must become."

Point Sparring

Making its debut in the 2000 Summer Olympic Games, the sport of Taekwondo Point sparring has stirred up a generation. It is a fast-paced, light contact game of strategy. Using all the acquired skills that students learn in class, they will attempt to tag their opponent’s point marker distinguishable by a red or blue design located on the front and side of the required chest protector. Although the Olympics allow for head contact, Street Ninja Karate advocates for the safety of its students and strictly allows for body contact only. Students will be drilling and sparring in full protective gear.
